History you can visit

Eureka Springs, follow the springs and the stories.

Meet the resort town through its museum, tucked-away springs and a landmark hotel above the streets.

The town’s history

Water brought the visitors

Eureka Springs grew around the reputation of its springs and became a Victorian health resort. The historical museum connects that chapter with the town’s later arts and counterculture story. Begin there, then look for traces of those different eras outside. [1]

A town built into the hillside

Limestone retaining walls let houses fit steep slopes, with springs and pocket parks between them. The Preservation Society, founded in 1978, helped document the historic district’s buildings. Look for the walls and changing street levels as you explore. [4]

A landmark from 1886

The Crescent Hotel dates to 1886 and remains a working hotel. Its architecture offers a connection to the resort era. [3]
